\ud83c\udf1f Overcoming Adversity
\nShinagawa revealed her long battle with a serious illness:
\n* She first contracted the intractable disease at the age of 18.
\n* During hospitalization, her liver function values rose due to medication side effects, making the drugs unusable.
\n* The symptoms subsided, and she was discharged, but the fear of recurrence led her to lead a very cautious life.
\n* The illness relapsed in her second year of working due to environmental changes and stress.
\n* She took a new medication that excluded the components which caused side effects, but described the experience as a “battle with terror.”
\n* Out of fear, she took responsibility for reducing the dosage herself and miraculously overcame the illness in her twenties.
\n* This experience taught her the “power to live and the meaning of challenge.”<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udc96 Life and Mission
\nFollowing her recovery, she married, had a son who is now 23 years old, and has been living as a single mother for 20 years, always looking forward.<\/p>\n
Her current challenge in the Mrs. of the Year competition is both a message to her past self and a way to deliver “hope that anyone can achieve their dreams” by openly showing her challenging spirit.
\n* Her wish: To be a presence that encourages anyone who is hesitant to take the first step.
\n* Her mission: To spread hope to many people through her pageant challenge, proving that “people can shine, regardless of their environment or age.”<\/p>\n
