Representing Japan at MISS ECO INTERNATIONAL 2025—ranked 7th among global beauty pageants—MIU Sakurai achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Japanese recipient of the MISS ECO ASIA 2025 title in the competition’s ten-year history.
Commitment to Social Impact and Global Action
Endorsed by the United Nations, the pageant integrates efforts toward the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) into its judging criteria. Sakurai has been actively engaged in community service, including volunteering at adoption events for rescued cats with the NPO Nekohige House, organizing cleanup drives, and cultivating vegetables on local farms.
Beyond her philanthropic work, Sakurai is also an accomplished artist. She incorporates singing, dancing, fire dance, and traditional Japanese taiko drumming into her stage performances, while also releasing music and performing live. Drawing on her upbringing in Indonesia, she has expanded her influence globally, appearing in international fashion shows and serving as a judge for dance competitions.
A Unique Collaboration with a Historic Japanese Confectionery
Adding a cultural twist to her achievements, Sakurai has teamed up with the long-established confectionery Onotamagawadō to launch a limited-edition dorayaki package featuring her original design. To celebrate this collaboration, she has even created an original song titled “Dorayaki Daisuki Dorakyua” and will perform a special “Dorayaki Dance.”
Reflecting on her journey, Sakurai expressed her passion for continuing to share the beauty of Japanese culture with the world through diverse projects and performances.
