Yumi Shinagawa, a Japan Finalist in the Mrs. Of The Year 2025 Precious category, is sharing her powerful personal story and her mission as she participates in the pageant.
π Overcoming Adversity
Shinagawa revealed her long battle with a serious illness:
* She first contracted the intractable disease at the age of 18.
* During hospitalization, her liver function values rose due to medication side effects, making the drugs unusable.
* The symptoms subsided, and she was discharged, but the fear of recurrence led her to lead a very cautious life.
* The illness relapsed in her second year of working due to environmental changes and stress.
* She took a new medication that excluded the components which caused side effects, but described the experience as a “battle with terror.”
* Out of fear, she took responsibility for reducing the dosage herself and miraculously overcame the illness in her twenties.
* This experience taught her the “power to live and the meaning of challenge.”
π Life and Mission
Following her recovery, she married, had a son who is now 23 years old, and has been living as a single mother for 20 years, always looking forward.
Her current challenge in the Mrs. of the Year competition is both a message to her past self and a way to deliver “hope that anyone can achieve their dreams” by openly showing her challenging spirit.
* Her wish: To be a presence that encourages anyone who is hesitant to take the first step.
* Her mission: To spread hope to many people through her pageant challenge, proving that “people can shine, regardless of their environment or age.”
She is competing in the Mrs. Of The Year 2025 Precious category (typically for women aged 50-64).
She is seeking support and encouragement for her journey.
