Norie Morikawa Oda Thrilled by “Nagoya Odori NEO Kabukimono” Performance

Model Fashion World 2023 Grand Prix winner and Nihon Buyo (Japanese traditional dance) performer, Norie Morikawa Oda, recently shared her excitement after attending the “Nagoya Odori NEO Kabukimono” performance.

A Fusion of Dance and Storytelling
Ms. Oda noted that she always looks forward to seeing how the dancing, storytelling, and visuals merge and evolve each year. She expressed that this year’s performance was splendid and certainly lived up to her high expectations.

Personal Note on the Performance
A distinctive part of Ms. Oda’s profile is her special skill, the “Kin no Shachihoko” (Golden Killer Whale pose, a symbol of Nagoya). Unfortunately, she did not have a chance to showcase her “Kin no Shachihoko” this year.
However, she happily mentioned that the entire venue, the Nagoya Civic Assembly Hall, was part of the “Nagoya Odori NEO” experience, allowing guests to stroll around and enjoy the atmosphere. She concluded that being able to enjoy the event in this manner was wonderful in itself.
A Memorable Finale and Wardrobe
Ms. Oda relayed a moment of great joy during the finale: she managed to catch a ceremonial towel thrown by one of the performers—an experience that deeply moved her for the first time.
As a final anecdote, she mentioned her wardrobe choice for the event. Last year, she wore a kimono, but this year, she opted for a hitoe (unlined kimono) and was still warm due to the heat, indicating that she didn’t even need a haori (kimono jacket).
