Yukari Ando: What a Single Word of Dismissal Takes Away

A single word from someone can instantly trample on your efforts and feelings.

“Oh, that? It’s just a common thing, right?”
“Everyone’s saying it, and I heard it’s not good.”

The pain of being dismissed by such a remark without them knowing anything about it is something only those who have experienced it can understand.
But, is that really your own experience?
Or did you just borrow someone else’s voice?

If you could change your response to: “Everyone says that, but I want to confirm it for myself,” the world would instantly open up much wider. This shift gives birth to the strength not to entrust your life to rumors or prejudice.
I have continued to learn. This is because I wanted to speak based on what I had confirmed with my own eyes and heart, not on rumors or preconceptions.

I feel that this accumulation also leads to an attitude of respecting others.
Neither business nor people can be discussed based on just one side. There are good points, and there are aspects that don’t align. That is why dismissing something without knowing is quite a waste.

If you don’t know, all you need to do is simply ‘try to learn’ about it.
I believe that this small attitude creates a gentler world for both yourself and others.
Having said that, everyone loves themselves the most.
That’s why I choose to continue happily updating myself.
