MISATO NOGATA EXPANDS SHOULDER MASSAGE THERAPY TO REMOTE ISLANDS AND LOCAL MARKETS

Misato Nogata, a certified Katamominist—a specialized therapist combining shoulder massage with professional therapeutic care—is expanding her reach beyond traditional culture centers. While she regularly teaches at various locations including culture centers in Fukuoka, she is also actively bringing her healing techniques to local markets and even remote islands to make professional therapy more accessible.

One such upcoming event is scheduled for Thursday, January 8, at the multi-cuisine restaurant Mommy on Nokonoshima Island. From 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, visitors can receive a professional 15-minute shoulder therapy session for 1,000 yen. This initiative reflects her commitment to using therapy as a means of connecting people across different environments.
Nogata, who dedicated eight years to the hospitality industry in traditional Japanese inns before becoming a therapist, primarily operates out of a relaxation salon in Hashimoto, Nishi-ku. However, her passion for the craft leads her to participate in various community events and pop-up markets throughout the prefecture.

For those planning to attend the Nokonoshima event, the location is conveniently situated just outside the ferry terminal. The ferry from Meinohama takes approximately 10 minutes, with adult fares set at 230 yen and elementary student fares at 120 yen. Additional transport fees apply for bicycles and vehicles based on their size. Through these diverse venues, Nogata continues to promote the benefits of specialized shoulder therapy to a wide audience.
