A Defining Moment: The “Fish in a Fishbowl” Analogy
RIKAKO shared a deeply personal experience that shaped her current mission. It stemmed from an incident where a former superior dismissed her strong belief that “any wish can be truly granted with effort” during a company presentation.
“That’s more of a private matter,” the superior reportedly told her. “There are things that just won’t work out in business.”
RIKAKO admits the comment crushed her confidence at the time. However, she now sees the experience differently, realizing that a strong will can change the course of one’s life.
Reflecting on the former superior, she felt he was “not living life by his own will” and wasn’t even aware of it. She likened his existence to a “fish in a fishbowl.”
“A fish in a fishbowl believes its world is everything. But to an outsider, it looks pitifully small, because it doesn’t know the ocean exists,” she wrote.
