Toshie Hashimoto, an artist specializing in the creation of ‘Ryu-jin’ (Dragon God) figures, has announced a significant upgrade to her “Asa Ryu-jin Brooches.”
Hashimoto, who is also known as the proprietor of “Musubidokoro Mikoriya” and uses sacred Asa (hemp) for her creations, shared details of the improvements.
The artist states that the latest version of the brooch is a substantial refinement from the initial design, although the production effort has tripled.
Key Upgrades to the Brooch
Hashimoto notes that despite the tripled effort involved in creation, she is pleased with the high-quality finish. She encourages those interested in the “wonderful” new pieces to contact her via the comment section or direct message. The brooches are intended to allow the wearers to continuously receive the protection of the Dragon God wherever they go.
Hashimoto’s products, which feature ropes made from sacred Asa for the Dragon God figures, are available for purchase on her BASE online shop, and she also hosts workshops. Her work is inspired by her love for sacred Asa and Shin-Asa (true hemp).

- Improved Twisting Technique: The brooches are now made with a three-strand twist instead of the original two-strand twist. This results in a finer, more detailed texture.
- Enhanced Posing Flexibility: By increasing the length of the figures, the new brooches can be positioned in a variety of expressive poses.
- More Expressive Faces: The face of the Dragon God has been made slightly larger, allowing for a wider selection of beads to be used for the eyes, which gives the figures a richer and more expressive look.
